The Bible in Vision Home Page

The Bible in Vision is the first attempt to produce a reading of the whole Bible on film and has taken us two years to make.

The Bible warns "vanity, vanity, all is vanity" where, of course, good marketing trumpets that the product we're selling is the best, finest, top-most-est and no one has ever seen anything like it. As it's the Bible, let's try to be honest.

We have tried to do justice to the Bible and used good readers and inspiring images from art through the centuries. The Bible in Vision sounds good and looks good but is it perfect? No. It would be vanity to claim it is.

But is it worth having?

We think so. We hear the Bible well read against stunning images of nature and also some of the greatest art that has ever been created. Giotto, Michelangelo, William Blake, Leonardo, Raphael, Durer and hundreds of great artists have been inspired by the Bible - so have a number of fine films. We use extracts from these to bring the Bible to visual life."

The project started when the Rev. Gordon Warren decided that he would stage a continuous reading of the Bible in June 2008. He believed that far too many people in London's East End had no idea what the Bible said. He recruited over 200 readers ranging from the Bishop of London, the Admiral of the Fleet, the Bishop of Stepney, actors like John K Steel, Joanna Moriarty, the editorial director of the Society for the Promotion of Christian Knowledge, Lord David Owen, Rabbi Janet Darley and Rev Chris Idle, one of Britain's leading hymn writers. David Cohen who made the BAFTA nominated ITV film on Soham - When Holly Went Missing - has directed this epic project.
